Driving a car in Thailand can be one of the most fascinating ways to see the beautiful country and all that it has to offer. The majority of visitors to the Kingdom stick fairly close to the beaten path, but the real treasures are a bit further out. While all the most popular places to see in Thailand are certainly well worth a visit, you get the chance to experience an entirely different Thailand when you venture to some of the other locations throughout the country.

For that reason, picking up a rental car is always a better way to go than signing up to an organised tour which parades you around from place to place, never really stopping any place long enough to allow you to fully enjoy it. Find out about Level 3 Car Insurance directly from an Asian insurance company here: ประกันชั้น3.

Always check for insurance

Renting a car in Thailand is not difficult as there are rental companies all over the place. There are a few things that you should keep an eye out for, though, when you decide to rent one. The most obvious is whether it has insurance and what type of insurance it has. In Thailand, there are many different levels of insurance available and they each come with different attributes.

Types of insurance

You can find rental cars that have the government-mandated CMI (Compulsory Motor Insurance) which covers the bare minimum, but most of the cars you will find will be protected under one the three main tiers of the country’s VMI (Voluntary Motor Insurance) offerings. You should always decide on a rental car that has at least a Class Three VMI, as that will offer you better security. Always be sure to check the type and status of the insurance before driving your rental off the lot.

VMI is the way to go

When it comes to insurance on an automobile that you own, the story is the same. You should opt for a VMI for better protection, but you do not have to go for the highest possible option. Generally speaking, a Class Three type policy is enough to cover the basic needs of most drivers. This level of coverage has decent protection and is inexpensive.

Is a Class Three policy enough?

While a Class Three VMI is not the most comprehensive coverage option available, it does offer enough protection to take the stress out of touring the country in your automobile. This level of insurance will cover the costs of medical bills for the driver, passengers, and third parties, as well as property damage to third parties. In most cases, we would say that a Class Three policy is enough to save drivers from paying a fortune after experiencing an accident.

Travel easy

While traveling throughout Thailand, you probably do not want to spend all your time worrying about your insurance coverage. You deserve the comfort that comes from knowing you are covered and getting yourself a Class Three VMI is one way to achieve that, without breaking the bank.
