Everything Works Now

Saturday 6 January 2007 @ 11:29 am

Well, my host, Servage, came through for me very quickly, they got back to me about the problem within a couple of minutes, and fixed it soon after, so the RSS feeds work now, so please subscribe to them, or you might miss out on my words of wisdom!

Speaking of my host, if you need a hosting solution, I can highly recommend them, every time I have had any queries, they have got back to me within ten minutes, despite the fact that their trouble ticket area say that I can expect longer response times… I wonder what their response times are normally?

I have only been with them for six days now, so I cannot say anything about their reliability, but the hosting is very fast, and they are actually very reasonably priced. Thier servers are based in Germany, which means that they are not subject to changes in the American political climate, like so many othe hosts.

At the risk of sounding like an advert, if you need hosting, take a serious look at Servage.

Problems with Blog Setup

Friday 5 January 2007 @ 12:28 pm

Well, like I said earlier, this blog is very much a work in progress, and I did not even realise how accurate that was. As you can see, I have changed the theme, although this one does require a bit of work (all the unfilled sections).

What is a bit worse is the fact that the RSS feeds do not work at the moment, but I am working on it with my host.

Hope you come back, this place will get better, I promise!

Another Day, More plan refinements

Thursday 4 January 2007 @ 3:36 pm

As I said in my previous post, I intend to be able to make $1500/month from at home sources. Some of you may be wondering how I plan to accomplish this Herculean task.

I will explain the details as I go along, but I have decided to focus on a few key areas, in approximate order of importance

  1. Domain speculation and investing - I am just learning the ropes on this one, but I think it has great potential to bring in a passive income, as well as quick profits from flipping the more valuable domain names.
  2. This blog (yes, the one you are reading right now) - At the time of this post, it does not have any monetisation strategies, but I will add some soon (its still very much a work in progress)
  3. MyLot - This is a pay per post network, that I have joined recently, I do not think that it will bring in much income, but I am enjoying it currently, and I am making a bit of money. (If you do join, I go under the name DeepThought) - I might look at other pay-per-action things, but all of the others I have seen have too low a return on my time investment.
  4. Any other web-based ideas I come up with and decide to work on (on the rare occasions that I have a little bit of time on my hands)
  5. Interest on my savings - I am including this here for the sake of completeness, since it does not involve any effort on my part, but it does form a nice passive extra each month, since I have managed to get an account that provides 7-8% interest.

I will go into more detail on each of these as time goes on, I am getting them all here in one place as much for my sake as for anybody else’s.
