On Communication
Somewhat like my previous post, this will be more of a collection of thoughts in search of a home, rather than a coherent whole. So, consider yourselves warned.
After a remark on twitter, I was thinking the role that communication plays in my life… After all the text you are reading now is a form of communication… It is even somewhat two-way, since you can always leave a comment.
As I am typing this, I am also carrying on a conversation with @briancarter on twitter, which actually inspired this whole post. In a sense, I am carrying two conversations at once. He was talking about how online communication is different from face to face, since it gives you time to think about what to say and how to say it. (Yes, I do actually think about what I am saying here… The madness is intentional)
There is a principle in NLP, “You cannot not communicate.” Which is perfectly true, since we are constantly in communication with the people important to us, with the people we pass in the street, with our computers, and most of all, with ourselves. Sometimes the only way we can find out what we really think and feel is by watching what we say and do.
Anyway, just some thoughts on this WoBloMo Post.
