Here is my progress so far for the month of February

I will do a proper commentary later, but it looks like my money made online is going up nicelly for now, especially taking into account how little I have done this month.

I am back

Posted on Monday 26 February 2007

As I said in my last post, a couple of geological ages ago, I have been ill for the last couple of days. The fact that the city I live in was in the middle of a heat wave, did not help matters at all (for those of you that might be confuseed by the idea of a heatwave in February: I live in the Southern Hemisphere).

Thanks for all of you that have wished me a speedy recovery (I did not even know that that many people actually use their valuable time to read my ramblings). I am feeling alot better now (and the heat wave seems to be over).

I have started a couple of new projects, that I will tell you about in the next few posts.

I am getting comment spam!

Posted on Tuesday 20 February 2007

Ok, I think very few people would get as excited about this as I am, but for me it means that my blog is sufficiently popular that the spammers are beginning to notice it. Akismet has caught bought of the spam comments so far (as well as a couple of innocent comments, which I set free from its clutches).

And sorry for not posting more often, I have been very ill these last couple of days.

Places which give you money for nothing

Posted on Friday 16 February 2007

I have recently found two investment sites which offer to give you $50 each into their own accounts, to invest for you.

I-tech Invest

The first one, I-tech Invest, adds $50 into your account when you join, but you are unable to do anything with the money until you deposit some of your own. They promise a 20% return every two weeks. So far, they seem like a normal HYIP.

I have not tried investing any of my own money in there, although I might when I have some in my e-gold account, so if anybody actaully does try putting money into them, let me know. I am a bit sceptical about them.

WealthToolbox

I am still not sure what to make of these guys. WealthToolbox gives you $50.00 into your account when you sign up, and you cannot add money to it, although you will get another $50 for each person that joins using your link… They offer payout only after two years, and they invest the money into forex.

The site is very plain, and you can view what kind of investment they have done with your money. I have already had one person sign up under me, bringing my total to $100. At the moment my account is sitting at $106, only two days after signing up.

Obivously, I will only find out if anything will come of it in 2009, but it is an interesting idea, anyway.

Progress Report 16 February 2007

Here is my progress so far for the month of February

Income

Well… As you can see, I got lucky this month with the tax rebate, which while very nice is once again, not the kind of money I can count on in the long term. On the online front, I seem to be getting some nice commissions from SRTSoft, and Text Link Ads is also a nice little money maker (especially since it rquires 0 effort from me)

You might notice that some entries are notable by their absence. I have decided not to bother with DonkeyMails any more, since the amount they pay per email is just too low for me. I also have not been posting much on MyLot, although I will probably go back to it.

SlashMySearch

Posted on Tuesday 13 February 2007

Well, I was fairly excited to find out about SlashMySearch, a pay-for-search system that actually remembers that there is a world outside the northern american continent (all the others I have seen do not allow countries other than US, or ocassionally Canada).

The idea behind it is very simple: Everytime you do a search, or someone in your downline does a search, you get paid… The payments seem to be a cent or so, but it adds up, especially if you have a downline.

The results are provided by a combination of several search engines, including Yahoo and Google, and they seem to have a nice set of relevance, from what I have seen so far.

They have also added in some interesting and usefull features, such as the eBay typo search, which allows people to search for listings with typos in them, which are unlikelly to receive heavy bidding. I personally do not make much use of eBay (the last time I bought anything from there was in 2001), but for those that do, this feature can give some very nice savings.

The only problem I have noticed so far is that the site seems to be fairly slow to download, but hopefully they will improve that.

So,  SlashMySearch could a nice way to make a couple of extra bucks, for simply doing what you so anyway (search)

Earners Blog Review

Posted on Monday 12 February 2007

I have been following the RSS feed from the Earners Blog for a couple of months now, and I am really impressed by the information contained in this blog, and its one of the very few ones that I read every new post in, rather than skimming it, like I do with so many others.

The whole blog has a very straightwforward no-nonsense approach to internet marketing and making money online. It is commited to finding out what works and what does not, and ultimatelly what makes money. It is refreshingly free of the usual hype so prevalent in the internet marketing community.

Some of the techniques the blog discusses border on black hat, which might put off some people, but even that information is usefull.

I think that this blog should have a place in anybody’s RSS reader.

First Income from Adwords and Adsense

Posted on Sunday 11 February 2007

Within a couple of days of each other, I have got money from both adsense and Adwords!

One person clicked on one of the ads on this blog, and somebody purchased one of the items I have marketed via adwords, for a commission of $48.80, so now I have made a small profit from the adwords promotion  (I have spent a grand total of approx R320 on adsense before this sale, so my overall profit is about R30)… The profit on this particular product is pretty good, since I spent less than $7 driving the traffic to the merchant.

The low overall profit is due to a single camapaign which had cost me R222 (Approx. $30), without a single sale. I stopped it within the first two days, when it became apparent that it will not perform.

Of the other two campaigns, one is reaching the 100 clicks mark, and if it does not get some sales soon, I will cancel it as well.

The third one is getting a very low CTR and number of searches. I am not sure if I will abandon it, or try to make it work.

At the moment I am looking into expanding my campaign to other PPC engines (specifically Yahoo and MSN). Since I want to see if I can generate mor emoney from the succesful campaign I already have. I will also soon start split testing on it, to see if I can get a higher CTR.

It is incredibly motivating to actually see a little bit of money coming in… Just when I was thinking if its worth it.

Back to the Old Theme

Posted on Wednesday 7 February 2007

The more attentive readers have noticed that I changed themes a couple of weeks ago, in an effort to raise my adsense earnings.

It did not work, they stayed steadily at $0.00, so I have reverted to the old theme, which looks a lot better. I might take the adsense off, and use the screen real estate for something else.

I guess that the people reading this blog are too ad-blind to fall for the adsense ads here.

I think I will start some other sites to publish adsense on.
